I was watching a program that talks about politics in a Spanish channel called "Al Punto" that translated to English means "To the Point". Anyway, one of the various segments of the program talked about making English the official language of this country.
This topic is very controversial among the Spanish speaking community because Spanish people are the biggest minority here in United States. I know that one of the amendments of the Constitution states about "Freedom of Speech", but to me, that amendment is written in English. I'm just being a little sarcastic.
In my opinion, all immigrants should be able to speak English. No matter where we come from, we should be able to speak the language. Since United States is our adopting home, for those who come from another country, should follow their rules and most of all, their laws. I'm just being fair.
I know is kind of difficult to learn other language different than our own, but it needs to be done because if Americans where to go live in Spain, no matter what, they have to learn Spanish. The same way if we were to go live in Germany, we would need to learn to speak German, or if we were to go to France would be obligated to learn their language, and so on. I think is only fair if we come to this country we have to learn to speak English.
