Emigrating to another country different than ours is difficult. Trying to adapt to a new life is ever harder. But what really tops all the above mentioned is learning a totally different language.

I'm Spanish speaking and arrived to this country when I was almost 18 years of age. That was like 2o years ago and I remembered it clearly like it was yesterday, I remember my father wanting me to watch television only in English. Anyway, at that time there were only 2 channels broadcasting in Spanish.

Even with an accent, my father would only talk to us in English. I had to go to take classes to learn the language twice a week at a local school. I had to take them during nighttime right after work.

It wasn't that difficult for me because back home while assisting high school, I had a great English teacher that was graduated in a local college in San Francisco which made it easy for me to adapt and learned this wonderful language.
