In Ramón “Tianguis” Pérez essay’s “The Fender-Bender”, the minor conflict was when he was backing up his friend’s old car and hit an Anglo-Saxon front-end van.

He was concerned because by having that accident, the Anglo had to call the police just to get a police report. His major conflict was that he was an illegal alien and didn’t have any type of legal document.

Since he wasn’t legal in this country, his biggest concerned was being deported back to Mexico. Fortunately, the victim of the fender-bender once the police had showed to the place where the accident took place didn’t want to press any charges on him. All the victim of the accident wanted was a police report to exclude him from any fault.

Unfortunately, the police officer that was a Chicano didn’t want to let him go so easily. By the way, a Chicano for those who don’t know is someone born in the United States with parents born in Mexico.

Ramón was frustrated because of the police officer actions. He was pushing the victim of the small accident to file a report against Ramón so he could send him back to Mexico or at least put him in jail, and that was his frustration. Finally the policeman had to leave, when there was a speeding vehicle going by and started chasing him. It was Ramón chance to get out of that situation.
